Topia helps companies solve the complexities and risks of managing their employees where they need to live and work, doing so efficiently and with a firm focus on compliance. Workforces have never been more geographically dispersed, whether due to remote working practices, business travel, international or domestic assignments or permanent transfers.  Complexity and risk have gone through the roof. This is the problem Topia was made to solve. 

Topia is used by many of the world's largest and most prestigious companies, energy, finance, semiconductor, telecoms, and engineering/design sectors to ensure the right people are in the right place, critical to driving company performance.  These customers are testament to the need for Topia’s solution and their ability to help these companies to address complex and large-scale people related needs.

In the post COVID world employees are more focused than ever on where they work and the ability for a company to be able to quickly form a view on the viability of different countries is very important. Furthermore, recruitment processes now operate globally so knowing what the requirements are when hiring in different countries is also important.

Welcoming Andy Leaver

As part of this investment, I am pleased to announce that Andy Leaver will be joining as a board advisor.

Andy brings extensive experience scaling and leading exceptional global teams in highly disruptive technology companies, with a particular focus in human capital management. Over the last 20 years, Andy has placed himself at the intersection of the tectonic shifts in the software industry, building global teams from scratch in SaaS, Cloud, Data, Open Source, and AI businesses. His passion for technology and leadership has helped create explosive growth at Ariba, SuccessFactors, Bazaarvoice, Workday, and Hortonworks—transforming them from humble beginnings into world-leading public companies via IPO. 

These deep learnings will be invaluable as Topia continues to expand its market presence and develop innovative solutions for managing a distributed workforce. Andy's addition to the board reinforces my confidence in Topia's future and its ability to execute its ambitious growth plans.

In this age of distributed workforces, organisations need to have a global strategy for employee mobility. Traditional approaches are cumbersome and slow, unable to move at the speed of modern business expectations. This is why i'm excited to be working with Bill and the team at Topia - having a comprehensive approach from strategy, to planning, to travel and payroll is an imperative and an area my HRTech experience saw often. Topia has built up a great customer base over the years and continued to develop the overall technology proposition. Through a combination of in-house development and acquisitions the product suite has been expanded to now serve both the office of the CFO and HR. I believe that their technology is best in class and provides everything a customer needs to navigate the world of global mobility management.

A great team

Topia’s leadership was a key factor in my investment decision. The CEO, Bill Mastin, has been with Topia since 2019 and has over 25 years of experience in software and SaaS companies, especially in the talent and learning space. His notable roles include Managing Director of Saba APAC and leading Saba's global services division. At Learning Technologies Group, he managed up to $100M ARR and was involved in $250M in acquisitions over three years. 

His extensive experience and successful track record, as well as that of the rest of the team, inspire confidence in Topia’s future and were crucial in our decision to invest.
